Analysis: Circulating online since 1997 (at which time its author was listed as "Anonymous"), the above poem — this particular version of it, anyway — has more recently been attributed to Alabama's notorious Judge Roy Moore. Since its authorship has been vetted by presumably reliable sources, it's listed here as authentic (see authorship update below).

Judge Moore vaulted to national prominence several years ago when, as Alabama's Chief Justice, he installed a 5,000-pound monument emblazoned with the Ten Commandments in the state's Supreme Court building. His defiance of a federal court order to remove it on grounds that it violated the Constitutional principle of separation of church and state led to Moore's suspension in 2003.

He is also a self-styled poet. Little life lessons

You are not entitled to anything. Even if you worked really hard for it. The truth no one wants to tell you anymore is this... Life is not fair! Life is full of challenges, disappoints, and successes. Most of the time, if you work hard you will succeed, but nothing is guaranteed. While none of us want to disappoint our children- sometimes we should. It is OKAY to say "no". It is OKAY to say- "you have to work and pay for it yourself". How else will our children learn to live in the real world? What will they do, at the age of 30, when their boss says "NO"? The world does not love your child, but you do! So isn't it best for you to teach them, in a loving way, so that they will learn to adjust, cope, and rise above the challenge?

Hollywood, professional athletes, politicians- these are not role models. Well, yes they are role models- if you are trying to teach your children that: they are above the law, marriage is not important, drugs, jails, and multiple sexual partners is okay. I know there are a few good ones left, but could you please remind me of one?

I want my children to grow up educated. I want them to be hard workers. I want them to be honest, kind, loving to their families and spouses, respectful. I want them to do the right thing- even when it's the hardest thing to do. So why would I support Hollywood?

What kind of adults do you want your children to be? What kind of American do you want them to grow up in?

Our children are worth fighting for!

Recent news from the European financial markets hints at a growing storm in the birthplace of democracy. In 1981, the nation of Greece joined the European Union, and the country's original currency, the Drachma, was replaced by the Euro in 2002. In a short period of just less than 3 decades, the world is now witness to the logical outcome (the consequence) of Greece's decision to sacrifice a good measure of its sovreignty and its freedom.

Two general financial prerequistes exist for entry into the single-currency-bloc for all candidate country. Firstly, the EU establishes "Broad Economic Policy Guidelines" for the country; these policies are non-binding, and at best represent a set of ideal outcomes following intregation into the bloc. Secondly, all members of the Eurozone are beholden to the "Stability and Growth Pact." This treaty dictates the acceptable parameters for each Eurozone member's fiscal policy, including: limits on deficits and national debt, with associated sanctions for deviation. Specifically, each member nation must maintain:

• An annual budget deficit no higher than 3% of GDP.
• A national debt lower than 60% of GDP or approaching that value.

Like every other country in the EU, Greece had to accept these requirements. Earlier this Spring, news broke which shed light on a pattern of dishonest financial reporting spanning years. Greece had essentially lied to the world by claiming that it was in compliance with these measures. The reality instead was this: in 2009, instead of deficits set at 3% of GDP, Greece had budgeted 13.6% of its GDP to finance burgeoning government entitlement programs. In aggregate, the 2009 national debt for this country in crisis was an astounding 115% of its gross domestic product.

When we ask "what does this mean?" we are really asking two questions:

• "What caused this?"
• "What are the potential probable effects (the consequences)?"

Powerful Patriots! I sit here with a heavy heart. I just put my children to bed. I wonder what the future will hold for them. I wonder what kind of country will be left for them. Sadly, it is the same freedoms granted to us by the Constitution that allow evil people to work against the constitution. We must reveal evil! We must expose it and replace it with the truth! We must recognize their propaganda, expose it, and replace it with the truth!

It is important to recognize their tactics. It is important to know that they are trying to turn us against one another. If we see what they are trying to do, we can prevent it!

We must work together!

Section 3. D-2) defines the criteria for a High-value Detainee under E) as any "(E) Such other matters as the President considers appropriate."

Section 6- Defines ACT OF TERRORISM "(1) ACT OF TERRORISM- The term ‘act of terrorism’ means an act of terrorism as that term is defined in section 101(16) of the Homeland Security Act of 2002 (6 U.S.C. 101(16))."
If you look up U.S.C.101 (16))- it states activities that are "(i)dangerous to human life or potentially destructive of critical infrastructure or key resources; and (ii)is a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State or other subdivision of the United States; and (B) appears to be intended-"
(B) allows for a lot of interpretation!

Immigration!

Where do I even begin on this topic?...My grandfather was Hispanic. He was my best friend. We lived together for 9 years. His family was amazing. I also lived and studied in Mexico and Ecuador. I LOVE the Hispanic culture! They are a warm and generous people. I welcome them into the United States--along with any other immigrant (from any country)--as long as they arrive LEGALLY!

What other country in the world would tolerate illegal immigrants protesting in the streets, demanding amnesty? That just amazes me. You are NOT ENTITLED to the RIGHTS of a USA citizen just because you managed to sneak through a hole in the border.

So that then begs the QUESTION: why does the Federal government (which has jurisdiction in these matters) tolerate criminals protesting our country's laws? (Remember: when you do something illegally, it means that you are breaking a law...when you break a law, you are not law-abiding...when you are not law-abiding, you are...a criminal) Have you ever wondered why the government refuses to build a fence, refuses to adequately staff border control units, and why non-citizens are granted more protection than citizens?

The ANSWER is this: those in power are wholly willing to ignore the laws of the land if they are able to shoe-horn erstwhile criminals into a loyal voting bloc.

The negative eventualities of immigration "reform" are staggering.

• Health care "reform"--Have you thought about how health care is going to affect illegal immigration? Anyone that is sick will hop across the boarder to get the care they need. This will increase costs and drive rationing!
• Violence--Have you thought about the recent killings in Arizona which led to the new immigration law? In that state, drug violence has gotten so bad that it is not safe to be anywhere near the border--on either side.
• Student visas--There are many students that come to the United States each year with the honest desire of seeking an excellent education and then returning home to their own country. However, there are many who enter the USA under a student visa with nothing but evil intentions! Many jihadists enter the USA under student visas. They are not here seek educations, but to destroy our freedoms.

We need to be vigilant!

We must take our government back!

We must not be silent--not for a second!

Our government is working in the dark of night, behind closed doors, hoping you will forget...Will you?

As the now famous Tea Party sign says: "We can see NOVEMBER from our house!"

Insurance or Access?

I've been horrified and speechless at times about the imminent destruction of our health care system which will be precipitated by the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care" act. Proponents of this bill-become-law will not understand the true implications of this unconstitutional take-over of the US health care system until they are encountered with a 3-month-wait for basic health services or are denied care because of rationing.

Is our current system perfect?...NO, but it's still one of the best systems in the world. And EVERYONE does have access! Yes, that is correct--EVERYONE has access! The difference is this: some receive a bill in their mailboxes and others' bills are sent through an insurance company. But...EVERYONE is able to walk into a hospital and get care!

Our Veterans are familiar with the VA system. In VA hospitals, it is not uncommon to have to show up early in the morning and stand in long lines in hopes of getting to see a doctor. It is not uncommon for benefits to be denied. In fact, my father waited for 3 weeks to have major heart surgery, because they didn't have time, a doctor, or a room for him. He was in critical need of the surgery, following a major heart attack, but was mired in bureaucracy for 21 days!

The full effects of this health care law will not be felt for several years. I hope and pray it is somehow repealed, before people learn the hard way!

One of our founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin, is quoted as having said: "When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic."

This is a simple statement based upon a profound truth of human nature: we live in the NOW. It is the rare individual who can comprehend the eventualities and inevitabilities of Tomorrow completely enough to act Today in a manner responsible enough to ensure the best possible future outcomes. Most of us only appreciate our health when we are ill. Most of us only appreciate our wealth when we are beset with poverty or hardship. Most of us only appreciate our freedom when we have become enslaved.

Benjamin Franklin continues: “A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury."

The citizens of our nation today are confronted with a simple choice to either:

• Continue to accept an adulterated and transient form of security and hollowed-out equality which together are eroding and eventually will destroy our freedom. The implementation of this decision is embodied in the horrendous fiscal policy of our country.
• Preserve our freedoms at the cost of accountability; to no longer defer into the future the consequences of our actions. Cut taxes and cut programs.

Recently, media articles have appeared which raise the specter of a "tipping point" in our constituency. Because of refundable tax credits and a serpetine and corrupt tax code, a full 47% of 2009 tax "payers" pay no Federal income tax. In other words: 47 of every 100 citizens of our country get every benefit offered by the federal government (national defense, the post office, and every arguably unconstitutional social entitlement program) without paying anything for those benefits.

Franklin describes the certain outcome if that tipping point is reached and maintained: "From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship." Already, the inhabitants of the presidency have a demonstrated record of abusing their constitutional powers and exceeding their legal mandates; these actions are usually precipitated not out of necessity or expedience, but rather from an overwhelming arrogant conviction that the progressive way is the enlightened way.

Benjamin Franklin lays out the further progression thusly: "The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been about 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence:

• From bondage to spiritual faith; (the 15th and 16th centuries as the colonies were established)
• From spiritual faith to great courage; (the American Revolution)
• From courage to liberty; (the establishment of the US Constitution)
• From liberty to abundance; (the 19th and early 20th centuries)
• From abundance to selfishness; (the decades following World War II)
• From selfishness to apathy; (the 90s until present)
• From apathy to dependence; (beginning with the New Deal in the early 20th century with drastic increases until present)
• From dependence back into bondage."

This last step, my friends, as well as the undoing of the unfavorable prior steps, can be undone through an awakening among all Powerful Patriots in our great nation.

Isn't it funny? For years liberals have been screaming for the rights of a woman: "It's her body, and her choice!" It's perfectly okay to kill your baby, just as long as you don't EAT MEAT (we must protect those animals!)

Gadsden Flag!

Ever wonder where the rattle snake on the flag came from?

In 1751 The Pennsylvania Gazette quoted Benjamin Franklin suggesting that they send England rattle snakes as a thank you, since England was sending their convicted felons to America!

The rattle snake became a popular symbol in the American colonies and was later used to unite the colonies and also became a symbol for the Sons of Liberty.

Benjamin Franklin (disguised as American Guesser) further wrote about the rattle snake in 1775 "I observed on one of the drums belonging to the marines now raising, there was painted a Rattle-Snake, with this modest motto under it, 'Don't tread on me.' As I know it is the custom to have some device on the arms of every country, I supposed this may have been intended for the arms of America."

This is from a Powerful Patriot in Texas!

There were about 1500 - 2000 people there. It was the first tea party and the only one I have been able to attend. I live about 20 miles from Monaville. It was great experience to see so many like thinking people gathered for the same purpose. I hope we have another tea party this year. We need it more now!

Have you ever wondered why you have two candidates, neither that you like or agree with, that you are trying to vote for in November? You find yourself voting for the "lite" version or the lesser-of-two-evils! Ever wondered???

PRIMARIES! That is your answer! That is the dirty little secret. Primaries are where the big choices are made!

You must get involved in the primaries! This is when you have a variety of candidates to choose from. You'll then truly be able to vote for a Constitution-Loving, God-fearing, Gun-Carrying CONSERVATIVE! Heck, they'll probably really appreciate your support too!

So many good candidates never make it out of the primaries! Then, come election day, you have to vote for a R.I.N.O. (aka: "Republican In Name Only" ... a wanna-be Elephant ... a Democratic-lite candidate).

Primaries happen at different times depending on where you are located. So now is a really good time to get involved!

The more government interferes with private enterprise, the more unions are pushed (that's a rant for another day! GRRRRR UNIONS!) the less productive businesses become. Any company that is not making a profit, can not expand, can not develop new ideas and products, and can not afford to employ you! Profit is a good thing! Profit is important!

Entitlements?!

What would we have been called if our founding fathers relied on handouts? The United States of Great Britain? This country was built on hard work, hard work that you and I will never fully understand. The effort it took just to eat, most of us today would probably starve!

Which brings me back to Benjamin Franklin, he was working at age 10! Most 10-year-olds today won’t even take out the trash. George Clymer was orphaned at a young age. He went to live with his uncle where he was taught to be a merchant. So many of our founding fathers worked from a very young age, earned educations, and worked until their deaths. They did not beg Great Britain to feed them.

Over the years the entitlement programs have ballooned and have busted budgets. Politicians continue to expand these programs with no regard for fiscal responsiblity. They won’t tell the truth because they want the votes bought with those entitlements!

We need to go back to our roots. We need to listen to and follow the examples of our founding fathers. We need to work hard and educate ourselves. We need to be self reliant! We need to prepare ourselves for the hard days ahead. Our debt is unsustainable! Our children’s children will not be able to pay it down. There is constant chatter of replacing the US dollar as reserve currency and the potential loss of our credit rating. What happens when China demands payment? At the end of the day, YOU are responsible for YOU! When we continue to allow our government to expand entitlement programs we rob ourselves. We are allowing them to control us. We lose more of our freedom.

When is the last time any government has given freedom back to the people?

I don't know. I was asleep. I'm embarrassed to admit that I did not even vote until I was in my mid-twenties. My excuse was "Why vote for the better liar? They all have blood on their hands." Well, I'm awake and I'm not going back to sleep! I'm going to shout FREEDOM from the roof tops and hope someone joins me! This country is worth fighting for! Our founding fathers made GREAT SACRIFICES to give us a Republic and our constitution. What have we done with them? I'm sorry Mr. Franklin for all your hard work, but I'm starting to wonder if we "can keep it" (Our Republic, that is). Oh wake up! Listen to the clarion call of our Liberty Bell and RUN with me to her rescue!

I don't know how this will end. I don't know what history will say about us. So many people around the world are fighting for freedom. Iran has had many protests and much blood shed over the past year. They are fighting for freedom. We, we are GIVING OURS AWAY! "Any Society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both." - Benjamin Franklin. Washington is working in the dark of night, behind closed doors. Anything virtuous and good does not need to be hidden! We must return to self reliance, personal accountability, courage, and integrity! We must not be remembered as the generation that lost the Republic!
